Builders flag lots, unveil innovations for first model homes

Babcock Ranch, Florida – Residential construction is underway at Babcock Ranch, and the innovative new solar-powered town remains on track to begin welcoming its first residents early next year.

Representatives of Florida Lifestyle Homes, Fox Premier Builders, and Stock Development joined developer Kitson & Partners on Monday to stake out their territory and provide an overview of home styles and innovative features they will be incorporating into the very first neighborhood in what will eventually be a town of 50,000 residents.

Lake Timber offers a broad range of home styles and price points – all within walking distance of the downtown district. Grouped around Babcock Ranch’s signature green spaces, parks and lakes, the homes and their deep front porches are positioned tighter to the street to encourage residents to connect with neighbors and nature.

“We challenged our building partners to combine the warmth, charm and character of old Florida architectural styles with cutting edge technologies and best practices in sustainability, and they have delivered with a diverse mix of innovative and inviting homes,” said Syd Kitson, Chairman and CEO of Kitson & Partners. “With their help and pioneering spirit we are creating a whole new way of living at Babcock Ranch.”

Babcock Ranch’s architectural styles conjure a pleasing sense of familiarity. The Babcock style is derived from the pre-World War II neighborhoods throughout Southwest Florida. Deep, open porches typically run the length of the front façade and wrap around one or both sides of the home, providing shade and allowing breezes to flow throughout. But there is nothing old-fashioned about the performance of these classic styled homes. Every home at Babcock Ranch is designed in compliance with Florida Green Building Coalition (FGBC) standards in the world’s first new town powered by the sun. Lightning-fast fiber optic service (minimum of 1 Gigabyte is standard to every home) is the foundation of unprecedented technological infrastructure to support the advanced technologies of today – and the innovations of tomorrow.

“We are so fortunate to have the relationships that we do with these very accomplished builders. They have embraced the architectural style that truly represents the tone of Babcock Ranch and they have designed homes that are outstanding both from a visual standpoint as well as in their functionality,” said Rick Severance, President of Babcock Ranch. “We know our buyers will see the real value in these homes and the community as a whole.”

All Lake Timber residences are set on quiet streets anchored by parks and neighborhood gardens that encourage a welcoming sense of community. The neighborhood integrates everything from larger lakefront homes to townhomes – all just minutes away from Babcock Ranch’s Downtown District that will appeal to both the young and the young at heart with opportunities to play, learn, and work in a harmonious small-town setting.

Five builders have staked out their territory, laying claim to the first 193 home lots that are now ready for construction. As the builders close on their lots and begin construction on 18 model homes scheduled for completion by the first of next year, they are now in position to start writing contracts with home-buyers who are anxious be among the first to call Babcock Ranch home.
