The town is up 15% year-over-year, leading growth in Florida, the top-selling state overall
BABCOCK RANCH, Fla. (July 31, 2025) – Babcock Ranch, America’s first solar-powered town, is named the seventh fastest selling master-planned community (MPC) in the United States, based on the mid-year rankings report compiled by prestigious real estate consulting firm, RCLCO. This ranking underscores Babcock Ranch’s appeal to homebuyers who are interested in a sustainable lifestyle.
First appearing on RCLCO’s Top-Selling Master-Planned Communities list in 2020 at 39th place, Babcock Ranch has rapidly moved its way up the rankings. In 2024, Babcock Ranch was listed in the twelfth spot of the mid-year report and is now up 15% year-over-year. Florida remains a top-selling state among MPCs, accounting for 41% total of master plan sales. This strong momentum speaks to Florida’s continued popularity with homebuyers.
Created by Syd Kitson and Kitson & Partners with the philosophy that smart growth and sustainability work together, the town of Babcock Ranch has pioneered a blueprint for resilient development. With over 5,000 homes sold and 12,500 residents, the town is currently planned for 20,000 residences, 60,000 people and 6,000,000 square feet of commercial space. By the end of 2025, the town is expected to have sold 6,000 homes and have 15,000 residents.
“We’re honored by RCLCO’s recognition of Babcock Ranch’s successful growth as a master planned community and that homebuyers continue to trust our vision to help live a better, more sustainable life,” said Syd Kitson, founder and visionary of Babcock Ranch. “This achievement comes on the heels of another significant milestone for us – reaching 5,000 homes sold and we’re looking forward to closing out the year on a strong note as we welcome more new residents to Babcock Ranch.”
Welcoming its first residents in 2018, Babcock Ranch offers sustainably built single-family homes, townhomes, condos, villas, and coach homes with prices ranging from upper-$200,000s to $4 million, now in 14 distinct neighborhoods. Babcock Ranch teams up with national and regional homebuilders who share a common commitment to creating an innovative, responsibly developed town, such as D.R. Horton, Lennar, Meritage Homes, Pulte Homes, and more.
The town’s innovative approach to solar power with its focus on storm resilience and environmental stewardship has created a new standard for MPCs.
Babcock Ranch is intentionally designed so all neighborhoods are interconnected with social, retail and commercial hubs through its trails, greenways and bike path systems that are walkable and reduce the use of cars on the road. Babcock Ranch’s latest outdoor adventure destination, The PKWY, opened this year. This collection of six innovative parks features custom park equipment, themed playgrounds, multipurpose fields, designated fishing areas and fenced areas for small and large dog breeds.
Recently opened, The Shoppes at Yellow Pine, is the newest go-to destination featuring national and local retailers, dining establishments and, set to open in early 2026, urgent care and medical services provided by Tampa General Hospital. Also coming next year, various entertainment and commercial districts will open offering a live-play-work environment including B Street, MidTown Center and Curry Commerce Center.
