Lennar, one of the nation’s largest homebuilders, recently announced plans to build residences at Babcock Ranch.
The news is significant because Lennar brings its financial strength and national reputation to the new town. The homebuilder plans twin villas that start at $180,000 and single-family homes that start at $220,000.
Founded as a small homebuilder in Miami in 1954, the company became publicly traded in 1971. In 2016, Lennar built 26,563 homes across multiple states.
Lennar is Local
Lennar has a significant presence in Southwest Florida. The company has built homes in more than 60 communities across the region, catering to first-time homebuyers, move-up and multigenerational homes.
Lennar boosted its presence recently with the acquisition of Bonita Springs-based WCI Communities. WCI has built homes for more than 150,000 Florida residents over the years.
At Babcock Ranch, Lennar initially will build 180 homes in the neighborhood located southeast of Founder’s Square, the downtown area. That area will also be adjacent to the permanent school site and community park, a plus for young families who won’t need to drive. You can view the town’s site plan here:
With prices for its homes at Babcock Ranch starting at $180,000, Lennar is setting the standard for appealing to a wide range of buyers. Fact is, Babcock Ranch’s builders offer a mix of new homes that will appeal to a broad cross-section of the community. You can read about the town’s homebuilders by clicking here:
Everything’s Included
Lennar pledges to include luxury features as standard items in all its new homes because it can leverage its significant purchasing clout for luxury touches. Upscale countertops, home security systems and energy saving appliances are all standard, for example.
Thanks to that approach, homebuyers never have to haggle, hope or compromise their dream home because all the features are included in the price. You can watch a video that explains how everything’s included in a Lennar home here.
In addition, Lennar homebuyers at Babcock Ranch will benefit from a lightning-fast gigabyte of fiber-optic internet connectivity and green-building standards that will lower everyone’s power bills.
Outside the home, residents know they’ll have amenities within walking or biking distance in nearby downtown Founder’s Square, including shopping, dining, an outdoor-sports outfitter, a health club and offices.
Energy Conservation
Babcock Ranch’s developer Kitson & Partners sought builders such as Lennar who would adhere to the concepts of green building and sustainability when it began planning for the new town of Babcock Ranch. As a result of Kitson’s conservation efforts, the Florida Green Building Coalition has certified the entire town of Babcock Ranch as “green.”
Babcock Ranch is on the leading edge of energy conservation as the nation’s first solar-powered community, so it’s fitting that energy efficiency is key. For example, the homes’ porches and raised foundations provide natural cooling and the landscaping requires little watering.
Homes at Babcock Ranch achieve energy savings through technology breakthroughs in materials and construction. Features include high-performance windows and insulation, tight construction and ducts, efficient heating and cooling equipment and energy saving lighting and appliances. All fixtures, faucets, shower heads, and toilets installed in homes have WaterSense compliant fixtures.
