‘Go Fly a Kite’ at Babcock Ranch Festival of Kites

BABCOCK RANCH, Fla. (May 30, 2019) – Babcock Ranch, America’s first solar-powered town located just northeast of Fort Myers on Babcock Ranch Road/State Road 31, is hosting an inaugural Festival of Kites in Founder’s Square Saturday, June 15 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., rain or shine.

Guests are invited to make, fly and learn about beautiful, colorful kites. This family friendly event features a day of fun, food trucks and music, along with free kite kits for children while supplies last.

Bring a chair or a blanket and find a spot along Lake Babcock Drive to see the colorful sport of kiting come to life. World-renowned kite makers and fliers, including Peter Dolphin, Steve Santos, Scott Weider, Dan Ward, Rev Riders and Quad Team FX will showcase their talents in large kites and inflatables with flying demos. Novice to advanced workshops are available for kids-at-heart to learn more about kite making and flying, and Windworks will host an onsite Wind Garden with kites and accessories available for purchase.

Air-conditioned shuttles will be available for self-guided tours of more than two dozen furnished Babcock Ranch model homes open for viewing. Guests who register at the Babcock Ranch Discovery Center in Woodlea Hall for the model tour will be eligible to win a chance for a Weekend Florida Staycation.

Guests can also visit Founder’s Square, the heart of Babcock Ranch, to enjoy fare from the area’s most popular food trucks, along with Babcock Ranch’s Table & Tap restaurant, Slater’s Goods & Provisions, and Square Scoops Coffee & Creamery.
