The Escobedos Family of Xuma Grill

Family, Tacos, and Community: How the Escobedos Are Shaping Life at Babcock Ranch

Wednesday, October 2, 2024

When Araceli and Saul Escobedo first discovered Babcock Ranch in 2018, they sought something different—a place to live and thrive. Fast forward to today, and the Escobedos are now an integral part of this growing community. As one of the first 50 homebuyers in America’s first solar-powered town, they’ve seen first-hand how Babcock Ranch has grown from a budding development into a vibrant, eco-conscious community setting new standards for sustainable living and business opportunities.

The Escobedos’ story at Babcock Ranch goes far beyond simply owning a home here. For them, it’s about family, business, and building a future. In early 2022, Araceli and Saul opened M’xuma Tacos Mexican Grill at Crescent B Commons, offering authentic family recipes in a bustling community hub. As Araceli puts it, “We have made lots of friends who are like family, and we have our business here, which is a big plus.” Whether they’re spending time at Founder’s Square with their kids or running their successful restaurant, the Escobedos are fully immersed in the Babcock Ranch lifestyle.

A Growing Community with Endless Opportunities

Since moving to Babcock Ranch, Araceli and Saul have witnessed incredible growth in the community. What started as a handful of neighborhoods has blossomed into a thriving town with over 20 enclaves, offering a variety of housing options to suit all lifestyles. From condominiums and villas to townhomes and single-family estates, Babcock Ranch’s residential offerings reflect its commitment to providing diverse living options while maintaining its focus on sustainability and community.

The Escobedos’ business endeavors have flourished alongside the town’s expansion. Their restaurant is one of several locally owned businesses contributing to the local economy, and they’re passionate about supporting the many shops and services now available at Crescent B Commons and beyond. “We eat at Slater’s a lot, ice cream at Square Scoops is a must, and of course the pools and gym. I’ve met friends for coffee at the new Starbucks, and do all my grocery shopping at Publix,” says Araceli, reflecting on the conveniences now available just steps from their home.

Generations Together

For the Escobedos, Babcock Ranch has become more than just a home—it’s a multi-generational hub where family ties are deepened. Their two adult children, now living within the community, have joined them in embracing the Babcock lifestyle. With shared experiences like enjoying the local parks, attending community events, and frequenting the family-owned restaurant, the Escobedos find that Babcock Ranch provides the perfect setting for both family and business growth.

“We have everything we need right here,” says Araceli. Their children, now grown, have discovered the same sense of belonging, connection, and opportunity that originally drew Araceli and Saul to Babcock Ranch. Together, they represent the thriving, close-knit community that Babcock Ranch continues to build.

A Future of Growth and Connection

For the Escobedo family and the entire Babcock Ranch community, the future is bright. The town continues to expand with additional town centers planned. The Shoppes at Yellow Pine, set to open in 2025, will bring even more retail, dining, and professional services to residents. With its focus on sustainability, innovation, and community, Babcock Ranch is truly a place where families like the Escobedos can grow and thrive, both personally and professionally.
