Babcock Ranch Water Utilities received the 2018 Domestic Plant Operations Excellence Award for Drinking Water Plant Operations from the Department of Environmental Protection in recognition of outstanding treatment water and wastewater plant operations, maintenance and compliance.
Babcock Ranch Water Utilities, as operated by Town & Country Utilities, serves Babcock Ranch, America’s first solar-powered town located just northeast of Fort Myers on Babcock Ranch Road/State Road 31.
In operation for 15 months, the utility has implemented programs in safety training, preventive maintenance, emergency response planning, water and wastewater treatment and cross connection.
Utility Operation Manager Nathaniel Mastroeni said Town & Country Utilities is committed to serving the Babcock Ranch community and providing employees with a safe and healthy workplace.
“It is always a pleasure to have our work recognized, and we are truly blessed to serve the great community of Babcock Ranch,” said Mastroeni. “We will continue to strive for excellence.”
Babcock Ranch was created by Kitson & Partners with respect for the natural environment and the philosophy that smart growth and sustainability work hand in hand. Half of the town’s 18,000-acre footprint is set aside as greenways, parks and expansive lakes, providing recreation and scenic backdrops for Babcock Ranch’s homes and the Founder’s Square downtown district.
More than 30 model and quick-delivery homes are now open or under construction by Arthur Rutenberg Homes, Florida Lifestyle Homes, Fox Premier Builders, Lennar, Pulte Homes, Solara Homes by Banroc, and Stock Classic Homes. Many models are open for viewing daily.
