Babcock Ranch celebrates the season with annual tree lighting celebration

More than 4,000 guests celebrated the start of the season at Babcock Ranch’s third annual holiday event, emceed by NBC-2 News anchor Lisa Spooner.

After making a grand entrance on a horse-drawn sleigh and parading around Founder’s Square, Santa Claus posed for photos with children of all ages and lit the Christmas tree at Babcock Ranch, Florida’s unique eco-centric, solar-powered town just northeast of Fort Myers on Babcock Ranch Road/State Road 31.

The festive, family-friendly evening also featured performances by the Babcock Neighborhood School chorus, The Alva School chorus and band, Bloom Academy and the Babcock Neighborhood School cheerleaders.
